Sunset West is more than just a band, it’s a
family…literally. Brother-sister duo Jill and Mark Jayne have
combined their love of music into the loud, energetic giant now
known as Sunset West. Hailing from New York City, Sunset West has
taken the world by storm. UK rock magazine Black Velvet says “their
confident and upbeat knack not only overshadows blank slates like
Avril Lavigne, but also puts them to shame, storybook endings and
all.”
Sunset West has sold over 10,000 CDs of their original
music: Hope on the Horizon released in August of 2005, The Promise
Land released in June of 2007, and Rock on State commissioned for
Penn State University in August of 2007. This summer marked their
third year on the Vans Warped Tour, which has helped their fan base
to boom. Their themed sophomore album release party, Punk Rock Prom,
caught the attention of American Idol producers. They debuted in
October 2007, on America’s Next Greatest Band on FOX.
Sunset West has also been featured on four different
compilation CD’s which have been distributed throughout the world:
Skratch Magazine’s Summer of ’05 Warped Tour Compilation, 67
Records’ 2006 Essential Artist Collection, Canadian Cancer Benefit
Music4Cancer Compilation and the UK’s La Pesadilla Records’ 2006
release Soundtrack Punk. They have shared the stage with notable
national acts like Cartel, Mayday Parade, The Dollyrots, Wheatus,
Punchline, Lorene Drive, Never Heard of It, The Matches, Bottom
Line, and many others.
Sunset West can also be found on another stage—Jill
Jayne is also a Registered Dietitian. The duo makes their day job
touring schools talking to kids about exercising, eating right, body
image, and of course, rocking out. As the only Rockstar
Nutritionist, Jill believes that there is more to music than
partying hard and more to women than being thin.
Sunset West's sound is vibrant, fun, but most of all
distinctive. Their fierce and aggressive live show leaves nothing
to question. Jill's stellar vocals quickly separate the band from
all other rock, pop-punk, and indie acts. Sunset West's style is
rock solid yet sensitive, with the blend of voices between Jill and
Mark that only the same gene pool could provide. |
